7 MAY 2012: Dinner with Liz Poey
Anne Choo shares 2 common alumni with me - Queen Mary College in London and National Junior College in Singapore. And we also share a common greatest teacher of all time - Elizabeth Poey!
So when Liz invited to her home for a chat about my seva projects in Africa with a few like-minded friends, I brought with me a surprise to Liz - her long lost student Anne. And what a wonderful gathering of good friends over dinner. |

14 MAY 2012: Seva Talk at Raffles Institution
Thanks to Eddie and Steffen's invitation, Alvin gave a talk on social transformation for their JC2 students who would soon be embarking on community service projects. Alvin shared his Seva 2011 experience at the Children's Garden Home in Kenya. |

Telling the story of Kenyan street children... |

Steffen, Eddie and Alvin |
Students in top colleges are materially, informationally and technologically enriched to serve humanity and the world. But are they spiritually nurtured to have the compassion to love each other and care beyond their self interest? That, I think, must be the overarching calling to all teachers of today for the development of loving leaders of tomorrow.
Interestingly, at the end of Alvin's talk, those who stayed behind to engage him with deeper and broader questions about helping the poor were all foreign students. None from Singapore... |

27 MAY 2012: Robyn the Handygirl
Who do you call when you have handy work to do? Robyn Yong.
She single-handedly 'renovated' Alvin's office with the best of professional touch. |

Compensation for Robyn's handy work was a hearty karaoke session at Safra Jurong.
